Our English tutors have qualifications at Cambridge Diploma and Masters level from UK based universities – please check out their credentials and qualifications here – and extensive experience of teaching general and specialist English classes. Why choose a one-to-one language programme

Group courses are not the answer to everyone’s needs. If group lessons cannot fully respond to your needs or the demands of your schedule, a one-to-one course may be the most efficient and economical solution in the long run. In a course of this type, the tutor can concentrate on your individual needs and, usually, you need less than half the time for each level than you would in a group course.

Benjamin S. Bloom's research, often cited as a cornerstone of educational theory, provides strong support for the effectiveness of one-to-one tutoring. In his 1984 paper, "The 2 Sigma Problem: The Search for Methods of Group Instruction as Effective as One-to-One Tutoring," Bloom found that:

The average student in a one-on-one tutoring environment performed approximately two standard deviations (or 98%) better than students in a traditional classroom setting.

Hourly rates start at 35 euros for general English courses (levels A-B). These courses can be arranged throughout the year even at your own office or company premises.

The topic areas mentioned above are just an indication of what the types of courses that we can undertake to design and teach. Specially designed courses entirely tailored to your job or interest needs, e.g. music terminology or legal terminology, are possible. And, of course, being a teacher education centre, we are very interested in helping teachers of English whose native language is other than English, to improve their level to that required of a professional teacher.

Tuition fees below refer to classes which can be organised part-time or full-time if you plan to visit Greece for one or two weeks and take the opportunity to begin or improve your English. Please let us know how many units (hours) you wish to follow and we shall send you an offer.

Placement testing, needs analysis and exit testing to verify progress are also included in our tuition fees.
Payment schedule on one-to-one courses depends on the length and duration for each programme and is agreed per case
Discounts offered above are valid only for students who attend their courses either at CELT Athens or in our online interactive classroom.
Hourly rates above are valid for one-to-one lessons only.
In the case of two or three students, tuition is not divided but are still much lower than for one person. E.g. for a Proficiency preparation course of 3- 4 students, each individual student would pay 15-18 euros per hour.

Depending on your needs and available space, the course may be delivered at your own premises or at the CELT Athens seminar centre. Courses delivered at CELT are eligible for discounts offered here; these discounts are NOT available if we hold classes at your own premises.

Online Courses

Courses delivered in our onlne classroom are more economical of everyone’s time and space and also eligible for discounts mentioned on this page. The more hours you book, the less you pay.

For our online classes, we use Zoom, also ideal for business online meetings and collaborations. To participate in the webinars, you will need a fast connection, a headset and a webcam.

No Visa Required

Nationals of Australia, Canada, all EU countries, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and the USA can stay and study in Greece for up to three months without a visa (90 days). All other nationals will require a visa.

If you need a Visa

In order to obtain a visa for the duration of your studies in Athens, you need to provide your local Greek Embassy or Consulate with the following two documents along with any other documentation they will ask you to bring, such as your passport, verification of employment in your country of residence. In addition, you may be asked to provide verification from a bank that you have sufficient funds to be able to finance your stay in Greece.

Bear in mind that applicants from certain countries have a higher percentage of rejections, especially when there are sanctions in place or any kind of civil unrest in your country of origin.

Documents needed for a study visa

A letter of Acceptance* to follow your course with the dates of your course clearly indicated, your Passport Number, residence address and work address (physical addresses, not P.O.Box addresses).
An Accommodation Voucher* from the hotel or renting company verifying you have booked and paid for your accommodation fully prior to arriving in Athens
Financial information will also be asked by the Greek Embassy or Consulate; for Schengen visas so please make sure you can provide a bank account statement, in which you show sufficient funds to finance your stay in Greece.
Verification of employment in your host country.
Your passport
Your air tickets with travel dates same as on your acceptance letter and accommodation voucher .

CELT Athens will provide with your Letter of Acceptance on condition that you have been accepted and paid for your tuition and any assessment fees required (e.g. in the case of Cambridge CELTA or Delta courses) fully. An administration fee of 50 euros may be charged if you require further help with your visa issuing or finding accommodation.

Are you from a European country?

Citizens of EU member countries are free to travel, study and work anywhere in Europe. You do not need a visa in order to study in Greece.
