Mission Statement

A Top TEFL teacher training centre in Europe, offering DELTA and CELTA courses for more than 25 years with a 100% track record of success. With more than 5000 trainees who have completed our courses, we are among the first to introduce these courses online – pioneers in teaching and training online. The centre was established in 1989 as CELT and later, in 1993, as CELT Athens. We are fully dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and training teachers of English, looking to improve the state of foreign language education locally as well as internationally.

Our Principles & Methodology

Our main inspiration which drives the way materials are designed and programmes taught, is, first and foremost, belief in the principles of andragogy (as opposed to pedagogy), i.e., the educational philosophy governing the teaching of adults, whether in a group situation or in a one-to-one context. According to this, we try to keep our adult learners involved in all the stages of the process, free to learn without being afraid to make mistakes, engaged through relevant content and discovery learning. Stale grammar teaching, or rote learning are far from the best course of action, particularly for the adult learner who has no time to wait and needs quick results.

- Our approach satisfies immediate communicative needs; you don’t need to wait!
- Fluency is one of the major objectives promoted from day one!
- Language is best learnt through interaction and not through memorisation of grammar rules
- Grammar is important but only when learnt through communication
- Authentic materials are used extensively even if you are a beginner
- Our syllabus is flexible allowing you to develop in areas of interest or related to your job or studies
- Learning how to learn on your own is just as important
- You will keep learning and improving language skills even after the end of our course
- Our materials and activities are motivating and reflect adult reality

English for Adults in Athens or Online

Learning a foreign language as an adult is very different from learning it as a child and requires a very different approach and techniques which will help the adult acquire language much FASTER!!!

Learning English should, thus, help learners with their immediate communicative needs and train them to become efficient communicators in order to take on and play the roles they wish within the community.
